OCSEA, DYS join forces on recruitment

OCSEA and the Ohio Dept. of Youth Services (DYS) have partnered up to hold another state employee recruitment event, this time to recruit Youth Specialists who work with Ohio's incarcerated youth. Like last month's Dept. of Corrections/OCSEA recruitment partnership, the joint venture will include a marketing campaign involving social media, radio, digital ads, flyers and other ways to get the word out about the need for DYS employees.

Joint promotions will include a DYS hiring event to be held on Thursday, June 13 at the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility in Massillon, Ohio. DYS says they hope to speed up the hiring process by making on-the-spot, tentative offers on site at the event.

OCSEA launched another Facebook campaign last week about the recruitment event, highlighting the union-negotiated benefits of the job like FREE COLLEGE, affordable health care and union wages.

A tightening labor market and low unemployment have made it increasingly difficult to recruit Youth Specialists in some areas of the state.

“Working with our incarcerated youth is hard but fulfilling work. This joint recruitment event will help us find the right people for the jobs and give our staff the support they need and deserve," said Wilson Humphrey, OCSEA DYS Assembly President.

The hiring event takes place on June 13 from noon-5 p.m. at the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility, 2775 Indian River Rd, Massillon, OH 44646. Go here to check out OCSEA’s Facebook campaign.
