ODNR chapter hosts CCC lunch as part of larger fundraising effort
OCSEA members and their non-union co-workers at ODNR's Fountain Square in Columbus have been going all out for the Combined Charitable Campaign this year. Not only did OCSEA ODNR Chapter 2515 host a fundraising cookout this week, divisions within the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources Central Office have been planning many special events to raise funds for the CCC before the Oct. 21 deadline (NEXT FRIDAY!!!).
Events include an annual chili cook off, a "creepy" bake sale and a special espresso coffee day. Other outside-the-box events include a mineral and fossil silent auction by the Geological Survey team and a putt-putt golf course, which will be set up today by an Oil and Gas team to raise money for the CCC. "It's going to be a lot of fun for a good cause," says Dominique Haneberg-Diggs, a Geologist 3 in the Oil and Gas Division. He is also treasurer of Chapter 2515.
Shout out to all of the chapter members and co-workers who put on yesterday's fundraiser lunch and those who participated and gave generously. This included Chapter President Karl Hillebrand, who manned the grill, VP Treva Knasel, Treas. Haneberg-Diggs, stewards Curtis Coe and Vera Clark, Kendra Millam, Martin Breunig and Aaron Lance. Pres. Hildebrand also wishes to thank those officers who helped plan the event who were in the field on the day of the event.
The Combined Charitable Campaign is an annual joint labor and management initiative that encourages State of Ohio employees to donate to one or more of 1,100 local, regional, and international charitable organizations. It is jointly chaired by the State and OCSEA. This year's deadline is Friday, October 21. Learn more about the CCC at ohio.gov/ohioccc. share the good news! Now Accepting nominations for OCSEA community service Award
OCSEA activists and members are the most generous people we know! That's why the OCSEA Board of Directors continues to spotlight the charitable and volunteer efforts of its members and chapters with the "Bob White Labor Gives Back Award." Within OCSEA we call the goodwill, volunteerism and heroism of our members "Labor Gives Back." It is an integral part of unionism and public service to be good neighbors and active citizens in our towns and cities.
Do you know a union member or subordinate body (chapter, assembly or district) going above and beyond to give back in their communities? Share the good news and nominate them for the Bob White Labor Gives Back Award! Union acts of goodwill include community service work, volunteerism and acts of heroism. The winner of the award will receive $500 to donate to the charity of their choice and will be announced at the 2023 OCSEA Biennial Convention in August.
