Union scholarship deadline extended to June 15

Posted Apr. 21, 2020 by

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the OCSEA Board of Directors has extended the OCSEA Les Best Scholarship deadline to June 15, 2020, in order to give member and member family applicants more time to gather required materials.

OCSEA realizes that with the stay-at-home order, it has been difficult for applicants to acquire copies of their transcripts and ACT/SAT scores, and thus has decided it was best to extend the deadline. Applicants are encouraged to turn in the completed application and essay as soon as possible, and other required materials may be turned in as they become available before the June deadline.

Each year, the Les Best Scholarship awards a total of $12,000 in scholarships to OCSEA members, spouses and dependents. OCSEA members and spouses are eligible if attending a degree-seeking program either full-time or part-time. Dependents must be enrolled full time in a college degree-seeking program, or a vocational or union apprenticeship program. Scholarships may also be used for accredited online degree programs, an added benefit as more colleges are offering online degrees , especially in these uncertain times.
