Update: You did it! Ohio House Committee Vote on Dental Bill postponed, keep sending emails
A vote on the dangerous dental bill expected on April 6 in the Ohio House Insurance Committee was postponed. This comes after OCSEA activists were called to action yesterday to contact members of the Committee and urge them to vote against moving the legislation forward. Approximately 160 letters were sent by OCSEA members between yesterday and today detailing how increases in dental costs would impact their lives and their families. Activists should continue to send letters to members of the committee by clicking HERE.
At this time, it appears there weren't enough votes to move the bill forward from the Committee to the full House, and that's because of the efforts of OCSEA activists like you and the letters of opposition that were sent. But that could change. Please continue to stay vigilant. Don't forget: when you talk, they listen! We're hoping this bill stops here. Stay tuned for any updates. Read more about the dangerous dental bill below and take action.
Take action: Tell House committee to vote no on dangerous dental bill!!
The Ohio House Insurance Committee is expected to vote on proposed Ohio House Bill 344 TOMORROW Wednesday, April 6, 2022. This is the same dangerous and costly dental bill we've been warning you about. Your action is needed to stop this bill from moving to the full General Assembly this week! OCSEA members, as well as any Ohioan they know with dental insurance, are urged to WRITE members of Ohio House Insurance Committee TODAY and tell them to stop these costly regulation attempts once and for all. Tell them to vote NO on Ohio House Bill 344.
This legislation prevents dental insurance providers, like Delta Dental, from negotiating lower fees for non-covered services for their members. Proposed Ohio House Bill 344, if passed, would give dentists the ability to charge OCSEA members more money for non-covered services. While this directly impacts OCSEA members who utilize Union Benefits Trust, ALL Ohioans with dental insurance would feel the financial strain that would come with this dangerous overreach.
