Freedom Foundation hires shady company to collect cell numbers

Posted Jun. 10, 2020 by

The Freedom Foundation/OptOutToday continues to use the COVID pandemic to harass hard-working state employee union members. Now the anti-union group has hired an unscrupulous internet company to data mine your cell phone numbers so they can continue to harass OCSEA members using your personal information.

OCSEA members have started receiving texts from an 833 number for OptOutToday/Freedom Foundation. This is the same 833 number that internet scammers use to take people’s money, gain more personal information or plant viruses. Some of the scams have included the company impersonating government agencies, such as the IRS.

833 is already one of the area codes not to call back under any circumstance due to the high likelihood of 833 phone numbers being used in scam calls. And now that’s the number the Freedom Foundation is using!

More than 8,000 members have sent postcards or emails asking to be unsubscribed from the opt out emails, but the Freedom Foundation has simply moved to a new platform—your cell phones. We continue to ask members to file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. For more on how to do that, go HERE (member-only log-in required).
