Thanks to the power of union bargaining, eligible OCSEA members can receive a vacation cash-out at the same time as their sick-leave cash out for up to 40 hours. In order to be eligible, members must have at least 200 hours of vacation on the books.
Here are a few things you should know about the upcoming cash out:
- December leave conversion will be available from 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12 until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19. OCSEA bargaining unit members with a vacation balance of 200 hours or more are eligible to convert up to 40 hours of vacation this year. November 8 is the cut off for determining the vacation balance. After employees submit a request, they will receive a confirmation email.
- In order to meet the time frames, the 200 hours will be measured based on the accruals of employees on their Nov. 8 earning statement.
- The cash-out will appear on the employee’s first paycheck in December.
