OCSEA pickets prison farm closures at cattle auction

Posted Oct. 26, 2016 by

OCSEA is not giving up without a fight, union activists told the community of Mansfield yesterday during yet another picket aimed at stopping the closures of state prison farms across the state.

Despite the last of the state's beef cattle being sold to the highest bidders at auction yesterday, the union says it continues to fight for the jobs of those being impacted by the closures. The union fought hard to get an injunction to stop the closures until the contract grievance process was completed, but the courts denied the union's request. The union promises to use every means possible to fight the closures and save jobs.
