The Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act

Posted Feb. 26, 2020 by

Currently in 24 states, public employees do not have the right to negotiate a union contract. The Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act (PSFNA) would change that! Read about how AFSCME members across the country are advocating for federal union rights protections to improve communities and empower public workers.

The private sector version of this bill, the “Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act” (H.R. 2474) passed the U.S. House in early February and now heads to the U.S. Senate, where it faces difficult odds. Both private and public sector bills would level the playing field by strengthening federal labor law so that workers have more protections and a greater ability to organize and bargain.
