A message of gratitude: Honoring all who served this Veterans Day

This Veterans Day, OCSEA salutes our nation's veterans! We are especially humbled by and want to extend our gratitude to our OCSEA brother and sister veterans, as well as those who continue to serve, not only for their dedication to our nation but also for their public service that keeps our country moving forward!

Hundreds of OCSEA members are veterans or active military personnel. Our veteran brothers and sisters, from their work as public employees to their service in the military, are the truest of public servants and embody everything that this great nation represents. And a special shout out to our ODJFS members who protect the employment rights of veterans and transitioning service members through Veterans employment and training services and those who care for our aging veterans at our two Ohio Veterans homes in Georgetown and Sandusky.

Did you know? Under the OCSEA State Contract, employees that are called to active military service by the federal government continue to be eligible for full health care benefits during their tour of duty. Their dependents also continue to be eligible for health care benefits during their active duty service. Many employers don't provide this, making it essential that unions provide the rights for our nation's heroes. This is just one of so many ways unions are looking out and fighting for our service members–our future veterans! They fight for us. Unions fight for them!
