OCSEA activists from around Toledo joined other AFSCME and union members this past weekend to celebrate Labor Day with family and supporters. The activists marched in the annual Toledo Labor Day Parade to remind the community about why we celebrate Labor Day and the importance of public union members. Members from Lucas Chap. 4800 celebrated with matching shirts.

Ahead of Labor Day, Gallup released its annual poll showing that nearly seven in 10 Americans approve of labor unions.  “Gallup polling once again shows historically strong support [for unions] because workers understand they have the power to win fair pay, safer working conditions and dignity on the job when they organize a union,” said AFSCME President Lee Saunders. OCSEA District 6's Family Fun Day will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The FREE event is open to all OCSEA members in the Central Ohio area and will take place at the OCSEA Union Hall in Westerville.

Bring your family to connect and enjoy food and fun activities with other OCSEA members in the Central Ohio area. There will be fun and games for all ages and giveaways (must be present to win). Lunch will be provided from 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m. The lunch is free and will include both vegetarian and meat options. Additionally, attendees will hear from OCSEA leaders, learn about union benefits and more.

When union members come together on Labor Day, it's about more than barbecues and parades. The Greater Northwest Ohio Central Labor Council AFL-CIO will hold their annual Labor Day parade and celebration of unions in Toledo on Monday, September 1. The parade, which will step off at 9 AM, will take place in downtown Toledo starting at Summit and Monroe Streets and going along Summit, Jackson and Huron streets.

Local unions affiliated with AFSCME, including OCSEA, will be staging at the north curb lanes (opposite side of AFL-CIO) of Monroe at Summit and heading west toward 5th Third field. OCSEA participants should begin arriving at 8 a.m. OCSEA members are encouraged to bring their families, friends and co-workers to show their union pride. Please wear AFSCME green or OCSEA gear. Proud union signs are encouraged.

The Licking-Knox Central Labor Council will hold its annual Labor Day Parade and Rally in Newark on Monday, Sept. 1. OCSEA members are encouraged to bring their families, friends and co-workers to show their union pride. Please wear AFSCME green or OCSEA gear. Proud union signs are encouraged.

The parade will form at 10 a.m. Participants should enter from 4th Street and line up at the parking lot corner of Walnut and S. 3rd streets. Participants will be directed to their location by volunteers. the parade will start promptly at noon.

The Cincinnati Labor Council's 2025 Labor Day Weekend Family Picnic Basket Celebration will be Saturday, August 30 from Noon to 6 p.m. at Stricker's Grove! Tickets are $25 per person.
