National Call-in Day for State and Local Aid (HEROES Act)
WED. JULY 22:
It’s hard to believe. Coronavirus cases and unemployment numbers are climbing, but Majority Leader Mitch McConnell sent the Senate home without any answers or progress on the next coronavirus economic relief package.
The House passed the HEROES Act on May 15. Yet for two months, the Senate has not brought this critical legislation - which includes more than $1 trillion in aid to our states, cities, towns and counties - to the floor, nor has it proposed an alternative solution. This is crucial aid for states like Ohio so that public employees can continue to provide services.
Besides, the number of people who have been infected with COVID-19 has exponentially increased in nearly every state, and millions of Americans have been left unemployed through no fault of their own, which also has caused state revenues to drop.
Call your senator at 1-888-981-9704 to demand at least $1 trillion in aid to our states, cities and towns and to pass the HEROES Act.
We need the Senate to act immediately to save lives and livelihoods and to stop this recession from turning into a depression. It has become clear that uncoordinated piecemeal actions will not stop the spread of the virus, save the economy or lead the economy. The importance of a federal response cannot be overstated.
Call your senator at 1-888-981-9704 and tell them to get back to work to do what is right for our health, our economy and our country.
