Ohio better off than surrounding Right to Work states

A new study released by the Economic Policy Institute is showing the damage caused by recent Right to Work laws in Ohio’s neighboring states, Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin. Unlike Ohio, Illinois and Minnesota that have collective bargaining rights, these new RTW states have suffered from slower wage growth since RTW was enacted—which has translated to a loss of real income for middle class families.

Corrections retreat coming to Shawnee State Park

A Correction Retreat is scheduled for Saturday, May 20 at Shawnee Lodge and Conference Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. Registration fee is $25 per person which includes the conference information packet, continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Deadline to register is May 10. No refunds will be issued after May 10.

A bill reintroduced in the Ohio Senate would prevent insurance companies from negotiating lower prices on non-covered dental services. Senate Bill 87 - the Dental Bill – would have a direct impact on OCSEA members who get their dental benefits through the Union Benefits Trust.

Merrin introduces bill to up payment for dental, vision

Republican Ohio legislator Rep. Derek Merrin has introduced a bill that would require a premium payment for dental, vision and life insurance for exempt state employees AND also requires the state to negotiate the same increase for those that fall under state collective bargaining agreements.
